Local Carine artist Jemma Newman is creating a growing collection of small original watercolours inspired by the beaches we know and love.
Created in the same distinctive style and palette, each work is beautiful on its own, and even more compelling when collected together.

Crafted to meet a dual brief - affordable to collect, but with a chic coastal aesthetic.
These are original watercolour paintings, made fresh and modern with a focus on beautiful ocean colour, texture and light.
Each painting is created on thick 300gsm artist-grade cotton watercolour paper, then mounted onto a wooden panel and finished without glass. This allows you to see the gorgeous natural texture of the paper and the detail of every brushstroke up close.
The finished surface is protected with a UV-resistant coating and wax finish, giving the work a subtle contemporary feel while helping to protect it for years to come.
Each artwork includes a wire for wall hanging, and can stand on a bench or table.

Jemma is one of the happiest local artists you’ll meet, and for good reason.
MEET THE ARTIST
A Perth-based watercolour artist, Jemma is inspired by the beauty of the Western Australian coast and the simple joy of being outdoors painting it.
A member of the Watercolour Society of Western Australia, she often paints en plein air, capturing the changing light, colour and atmosphere of beaches from Mullaloo to Fremantle.
Based in Carine, you’ll often find Jemma happily set up with her paints beside the ocean, chatting to passers-by and soaking up the sunshine.
Her work is fresh, luminous and recognisably coastal, with a shared palette of beautiful ocean blues, turquoise, sea greens and warm sandy neutrals.
And honestly, she really does look pretty happy in all her painting photos!
