Luminous coastal
art for light-filled living

Jemma Newman is a Perth-based watercolour artist who paints on location along the coastline, translating salt air, shifting tides, and wide Australian skies into luminous works on paper.

A creative process inspired by the WA coast

I use one of the most inspiring palettes you can imagine - this incredible giant pearl shell. It’s a beautiful way to mix watercolours, ready to create luminous layers of colour.

When I’m not painting outdoors, you can find me surrounded by coastal inspiration and my huge shell collection, painting happily in my studio.

Hello, I’m Jemma, the happiest artist you’ll meet. I'm a Perth watercolour artist specialising in local seascapes and coastal forms.

You’ll often find me painting outdoors ‘in the wild’, carrying my portable easel to incredible locations along the coast. Nothing compares to painting outdoors to capture the colours, energy and movement of the vast Australian sky and ocean.

My goal is simple: to bring joy, calm and connection into your space through art that makes you breathe a little deeper.
