Cottesloe is an iconic beach in Perth, with a sparkling beach perfect for swimmers and families. You can often the artist on-site, standing at her easel and happily capturing the fantastic ocean colours and architecture of the Indiana Tea House.
In this painting, the artist purposely has ommitted people and shown only the sunlit umbrellas, giving the energy and enjoyment of a day at the beach without a feeling of being crowded.
Painted in Jemma's signature light and breezy style, 'Ocean Dip at Cottesloe Beach' shows beautiful ocean movement and striking shadows on the building. The feeling is of sunlight streaming through the trees, casting beautiful cool shadows to contrast the warm of the sun. The lush turquoise of the ocean has been cleverly woven into the shadows, trees and roof, bringing a sense of calm and tranquility to the work.
Painted in professional Winsor & Newton and Daniel Smith watercolours on 300gsm Arches paper, to ensure longevity of the luminous colours used.
